In this study of “H” where he encourages the reader to take more broadly into account the extent of Rimbaud’s vision, the author analyzes the clues planted by Rimbaud which point to the man from Besançon. Establishing a relationship between Hortense and what the poet states about women in The Letter of the Seer –, linking the columns of Hercules and the Hugolian “gate of misery”, the author shows how the figure which hides in the guise of Hortense is indeed that of Victor Hugo.
