The theatre of Leslie Kaplan is in line with that of contemporary dramaturges thanks to the place occupied in it by language. The different treatments she applies to language seek to produce two contradictory experiences for the viewer during performances: that of the intellectual and human shut-down induced by ordinary language and conventional ideas, and that of an opening up to all of life’s possibilities enabled by an inductor language of striking fecundity.
