The “dark blood” of the Wild Girl Sacrificial Matricide and Creative Process in Marguerite Duras’ Indochinese Cycle

The texts of the Indochinese cycle are anchored in a period of change characterized by the same scenario: an aged and weakened mother is dying, while a young girl aspires to leave childhood to gain independence. Reactualizing a mythical way of thinking, the stories of this cycle show how the fabrication of both feminine identities (i.e., the so-called ‘physiological’ states and the cultural status given to the body) and scriptural identities correlate with the sacrificial murder of the mother.
