We no longer toast A study of La Rivière de Cassis

Rimbaud’s poetics can be clarified in his relationship with the Romanticism. Analysis of La Rivière de Cassis reveals that it is the perspective on the History that differentiates Rimbaud from the “masters of 1830”. Starting with a parallel reading with Les Corbeaux, our study seeks to show the critical issue of the deliberately hermetic writing of Rimbaud in this phase on these three levels: the mechanism of meaning, the bacchanalian theme and the construction of the poetic voice.
