Further information

User profile

Users are invited to create their own profile in order to safeguard and retrieve their work on the databases. To do so, they just have to create a login and password. All their searches, their notes, their bookmarks and the corpus of texts they have created will then be registered on the Classiques Garnier Numerique server, and maintained with no time-limit.

Dictionary of equivalent spellings

In the Great Corpus of dictionaries, a dictionary of equivalent spellings is integrated. It makes possible full-text researches on the different spellings of a same word through the centuries. Thus, by means of the button “orthographe moderne”, from « abîme » (modern spelling), one can reach « abisme », « abysme », « abime » and « abyme ». It is a very useful function, that no other transsecular database of dictionaries offers.

The databases visibility

The Marc records of Classiques Garnier Numérique databases are available for libraries. They provide more ready access to the database’s content thanks to the indexation of its titles. This way, users can, from the Library catalog, reach the resource they are seeking more precisely.

Z39.50 server and protocol has also been set up. It will also assist users in gaining more direct access to the right electronic resource, from an external search.

Trial tests on the databases

We invite the Libraries to contact us to set up a trial test of the resources that especially interest them. It will allow the librarians, faculty and students to discover the content of the resource and engine search.

Customizing the publisher interface

Please feel free to provide your school’s logo (in gif format of 40 pixels in height) by email so that we can add it and customize the platform.

Text mode / image mode

Classiques Garnier databases are in text mode, with sometimes the facsimile edition of the original text. The whole content is typed and tagged. Tagging the whole content of the databases is the only way to give to the resource its electronic sense : we then know that this is an article, this is a second entry, this is a quote, this is a date of publication, this is a place of publication, etc. To know more about the differences between text and image mode, please, discover the resources.
