This article develops a new perspective on the political dimension of the thought of différance. Jacques Derrida has firmly refuted a political turn in deconstruction. The perspective put forward in this article highlights how the theme of writing connects deconstruction directly to the question of politics. In so doing, it brings to light the way that the erasure of the difference between speech and writing destabilizes the modern conception of political power.
