The Reclus de Molliens is a 13th-Century didactic poet who was widely successful in the Middle Ages, but largely neglected by modern critics. While exploring this forgotten bestseller, this essay also sheds light on a wider corpus of didactic poems using a stanza, called “strophe hélinandienne”.
