Writing recurrently for serial reading: the world of crime can be seen as a unique kind of environ-ment, through the “tacit fictionalization” of news stories or incidents that belong to realia. Does the often-anthological rewriting of these events justify us speaking of a “new realism,” fighting its way, like an isotopy within another isotopy, toward hybridization? This is the question that guides this first volume on “crime series.”
