The question of sound is often missing from the French-language historiography of the emergence of television fiction. Based on the accounts of pioneers Marcel Bluwal and Jean-Jacques Ledos, this article aims to lay the groundwork for the first technical history of sound recording in the French television genre known as “les dramatiques”, that is, the television adaptations of plays.
