Conrad Moricand owes his somehow nefarious fame to his stay in Big Sur which Henry Miller gave a detailed narration in A Devil in paradise. But, renowned prophet, chiromancer and artist, he is also the author of Miroir d’astrologie (1928, 1949) and, most of all, of Portraits astrologiques (1933), his most accomplished work. Amongst the ten portraits in question, as one of the most revealing, is Blaise Cendrars’.
