The origins of Sido’s portraits The photographs in “Sido ou les points cardinaux”

This article attempts to demonstrate that the presence of six photos in the pre-published version of «Sido ou les points cardinaux» in La Revue hebdomadaire, which became the first chapter of Sido, allows to presuppose an overall plan to this composition which, until now, seems to have been overlooked. It will also bring to light the importance of photography as a source of inspiration for the writer while showing how it influenced her portraiture and her autobiographical practice.
