By comparing Bemporad’s translation (1939) and Giuseppe Albini’s translation of Le Bucoliche (1926), it discusses Bemporad’s translation methodology. Far from being a juvenile attempt, Bemporad’s translation, which she worked on at the age of sixteen, represents a first poetic dialogue with Virgil, a source of poetic inspiration and an aesthetic and existential mentor for her own work as poet and translator.
