AB  - Adapting a novel for cinema starts with the tasks linked to condensing the text. As a general rule, while it is acknowledged that a novel will possess dramatic potential (a solid structure, an interesting plot, poignant dialogues that can be used as they are), a large part of the narrative will not lend itself easily to the processes of monstration, a term which designates the essence of intersemiotic translation, the transcoding of writing into a series of moving images.
