A survey of 31 small-scale processors revealed that the dairy processing sector employed 481 people, and generated 122 additional jobs upstream in collection and production activities. Wages received by employees were just above the country's minimum income. Given the competition of powder milk imports, we discuss the creation of local jobs in the artisanal sector.
