AB  - Roland Dorgelès (Le Réveil des morts, 1923) and Pierre Lemaitre (Au revoir là-haut, 2013) both place their novel in the immediate postwar period and question the legacy of the First World War. They thematize creation and use it in the service of memorializing the Great War, in which fiction finds its due place. The characters and the acts of fictionalization and imagination staged allow art and literature to be presented as essential tools of commemoration.
