AB  - This article, as a postscriptum to “Morales de la bouillotte et du scorpion” (Murphy 2020) argues that a sequence of La Vita by Benvenuto Cellini has a probable intertextual relationship (and is perhaps their source of inspiration?) with comparable initiation scenes in Verlaine’s Confessions, which shares the same totemic animal, the scorpion.
