AB  - In this critical review, I attempt to explore affinities and differences between six well-known Italian poets ranging from the 1960s to the present. These poets each draw on either their own direct experience of infirmity or the illness of a family member. The review offers ample space to the poets’ texts, which vary in tone and style, and in the way they give voice to the suffering, anguish, and isolation typical of a hospital stay.
