AB  - Based on the systematic inventory of seventeenth-century theater publications, this study of publishing procedures identifies the criteria for measuring a playwright’s success in bookstores. If Robert Garnier and Théophile de Viau dominated the beginning of the century, it was with Corneille and Molière that a real turning point was reached: revised re-editions, collective collections, critical and illustrated editions, as well as illicit editions, which paradoxically disseminated new works in the provinces.
