AB  - The Grenoble municipal library preserves, among other documents concerning the École centrale under the Directoire, notes made by the young Henri Beyle during the lectures of his teacher of belles-lettres, Dubois Fontanelle. The analysis of these notes, which mainly concern ancient and modern theater, sheds light on the functioning of the institution, its liberal pedagogy, and what left its mark on Henri Beyle in his intellectual and artistic training.
