He acted as a biographer on at least three occasions (for Poe, Gautier, and Delacroix), and each of these biographies is inspired by admiration, verging on veneration. This article first examines the biographies written by Baudelaire, in order to identify the distinctive features of his approach, and then goes into further detail on the works he dedicated to painters specifically.
