AB  - Writer and essayist Charles Ferdinand Ramuz’s (1878–1947) critique of technology and modernity seems to have been systematically overlooked by researchers. It is nevertheless very present in several of his fictional works and especially in his essays: sometimes refined while caustic, at others more developed. What are Ramuz’s criticisms? Are they inspired by a zeitgeist (notably that of the anti-machinisme of the 1930s), or are they engrained in all his work over the years and, moreover, more specific than that?
