AB  - 1563 saw the proliferation of booklets of poetry honoring François de Lorraine, the Duke of Guise, murdered in Orléans by Poltrot de Méré. Printed mainly by the Parisian bookseller Thomas Richard, they were widely distributed in France and abroad. This article analyzes this little-known corpus of eulogy booklets marked by the influence of Ronsard’s Discours, and identifies the motives, actors, and consequences of the Catholic response.
