AB  - The appointment of a new bishop of Chur in February 2021 opened the possibility of the end of a long open crisis in the Roman Catholic Church in Switzerland (RCC). Various developments have made the RCC appear to be exclusively conservative in the public arena. As a result, the innovation involved in diocesan restructuring has been completely ignored. This article highlights a persistent paradox of the RCC, which, even when it innovates, appears conservative.
