AB  - The article shows that Francis Bacon and William Petty develop a republican political economy different from that of James Harrington. Its particularity is to rely on the notion of conflict borrowed from Machiavelli. However, the dynamics generated by this conflict do not concern the political domain of the domination of the nobles over the people, but the economic domain insofar as it is linked to the production and distribution of wealth.
