AB  - Through the episode of Bergotte’s death, we offer an example of Proust’s translation into Russian and the problems that arise from the shift from one language to another. The commentary analyzes the role of painting in the novel, Proust’s evocation of Russian writers, and the overloaded Proustian sentence.
