AB  - Although the Bakhtinian notion of carnivalesque upheaval seems to be of little relevance to reading Proust’s novel, his theory of the novel, in which there is little mention of Proust by name, can, by contrast, shed light on the reading of the Recherche. The comparison conducted here concerns the functioning of the chronotope, the polyphony of the characters, and the status of the narrator.
