AB  - Thanks in large part to the courses of Émile Boutroux, Marcel Proust absorbed the Kantian climate that had been created in France by the thesis of Jules Lachelier in 1871 on the foundation of induction. But the writer was able to escape from the Neo-Kantian reception of Kant of this time, much as he escaped some other blind spots. For Proust, Science could not “dethrone” Metaphysics.
