AB  - Proust’s death constituted a precarious moment which served as a form of ‘editor’, creating an arbitrary end to the extent that the author disappeared, and affecting the ontological status of the writing. The textual divergences between two publications, the 1987 Grasset edition and the 1992 Champion Slatkine edition, relate to an epistemological question: that of the narrator searching for the answer to the question of whether Albertine is, or is not, homosexual.
