AB  - This article focuses on the text of the eulogy on Bossuet delivered by the Italian scholar Paul-Alexandre Maffei in 1705 during a session of the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith in Rome. An analysis of the intertext that provided the material for this unusually structured eulogy suggests that it is in fact a pastiche of the materials consulted, prepared probably on the initiative and with the help of personalities close to the bishop of Meaux.
