AB  - Bossuet offers Yvon a model which allows him to combine ancient history, providentialism and absolutist theory. However, Yvon does not completely support Bossuet’s repressive views. His experience as a contributor to the Encyclopédie leads him to support civil tolerance towards heretics, although not towards atheists and deists (while he still claims the necessity of an ecclesiastical intolerance). He therefore contributes to the reorientation of Bossuet’s image in the Christian milieu.
