Since these stories are often populated with immanent supernatural creatures, air travel – or rather displacement – finds its place within them quite easily. They are at once ludic spaces in which a certain extravagance can play out, rendering beings and words evanescent, and also spaces of freedom which speak of the liberation of all earthly constraints.
