AB  - In the autumn of 1837, the maintaining of the Molé ministry by Louis-Philippe, despite the dissolution of the Chamber of Deputies, prompts a debate in 1838-1839 on the nature of the regime that involves Principles of Representative Government by the MP, Prosper Duvergier of Hauranne. Beyond the specific context in which they operated, his ideas demonstrate the critical importance of the party system and of the majority system in the formation and development of parliamentary government.
