There’s a possibility that Rimbaud was exposed to Islam before the final years of his life, and that traces of his interest can be identified in certain of his prose poems. Drawing on Abdelkebir Khatibi’s description of looking at an Islamic mosaic in Maghreb pluriel and Kazimirski’s translation of the Qur’an, this papers offers a Qur’anic approach to reading ‘Fleurs’ (Illuminations) to unlock previously unseen dimensions in the poem.
