AB  - This contribution offers a semantic and pragmatic analysis of the structures of the si vraiement com, si com c’est voirs type in Medieval French. In a parallel way, si vraiement com / si com c’est voirs can express a wish or an oath (si voir con Diex fu nés). The same structures can be found quite early in spells and incantations, in which they seem to possess a magical power. In Middle French, these structures evolve towards a non-ritual use.
