AB  - Clothing is initially analysed as an attribute of psychological and structural coquettishness but also in so far as it constitutes an aspect of maternal care. The study which follows focuses on how clothing relates to identity. It shows that this novel does not represent clothing as a misleading sign but rather as a supple language mastered by the female narrator. Finally, B. Didier sees in the semiotics of clothing the emblem of a “feminine” writing defined by its essential fluidity.
