AB  - The English word vegan was coined in 1944 in order to designate someone who consumes no animal products. Only included in a French dictionary since 2012, its use provokes reactions by institutions, lexicographers and even vegans themselves. Those who use it endeavour to justify their choice of a lexical unit or a written form based on sentiment and reason, ranging from the fear of endorsing an Anglicism to the desire for acculturation.
