AB  - The metaphors used by Conti are a tool for the interpretation and modernisation of myths. They are less figures of style than intellectual tools which enable connections to be made between different elements. The chapters of the Mythologiæ, deploying all possible significations of the names of ancient Gods, and constructed like a metaphorical field, are the most extreme example of this. Lastly, the use of common metaphors in the Mythologiæ reveals the way the world is understood as a divine creation.
