AB  - When the author began to write a life of Maxime Du Camp, no one had previously considered the character interesting enough to devote a biography to him. The path was not traced out and many aspects of the writer’s life remained to be discovered. The overlap of information drawn from his works, his correspondence and his personal archives made it possible to reconstitute step by step all the stages of a prolific life and to draw a portrait of Du Camp quite removed from the clichés.
