AB  - Based on a comparative analysis of the mirror scene in La Vie tranquille and Aurélia Steiner (Vancouver), we are led to wonder whether Françou—the first character to assume the first-person narration—is also key to our understanding of the relationship to identity, a relationship that will concretize over time. As a precursor of Aurélia, does Françou not also raise the question of the origins, the first word, and the first cry of love?
