Philone, a tragedy which first appeared in 1586. If the Reformist provenance of the play is certain, the successional configuration opposing the two sons of David, Adonias and Salomon, is less easy to decipher. This analysis suggests that Adonias addressed a Reformist public who had difficulty accepting Henri IV’s political turnaround.
