Beginning in the 90s, the rise of the Islamist movement would bring about new relationships between the theater and the emerging question of culture. The theater of Benaïssa, which transforms the stage into a site of democratic debate, belongs to this moment. He questions and revisits history, turning his theater into a political plea.
