AB  - How can one explain Diderot admiration for Leibniz, even though the two philosophies differ quite considerably? The hypothesis of a convergence of philosophies as different as Leibniz and Diderot ones does not go without presupposing a kind of communication between them or a similar horizon. This study focuses on the link between theory and metatheory in Leibniz and Diderot and also on the metatheoretical use of borrowed concepts from classical metaphysics in the Encyclopédie.
