AB  - Towards the end of the eighteenth century, Bayle’s works now circulate freely in Europe but still encounter staunch resistance in Italy. Considering the rarity of contributions on Bayle’s thought in this country, the article studies a reading of Bayle by Pietro Tamburini, a lombardian Jansenist, jurist and theologian. It also shows the striking affinity of the philosopher with the question of civic tolerance, within a new context of political and religious issues
