AB  - This article studies the reception of Pascal’s Pensées by the libertines, primarily by Pascal’s friends, Méré and Mitton, who were for a long time considered the principal addressees of the work; but also more broadly by such figures of the 17th an 18th century of whose reception we have some trace. The study leads toward a reevaluation of the status of Pensées, and to an interrogation about whether the work was written in view of converting an external reader of whether it was not rather destined for Pascal himself.
