AB  - Why the capitalists divide labour ? The study deals with C. Babbage and K. Marx, two authors of the technical division of labour. Whereas Smith considered it on the basis of his physical effects in terms of productivity, Babbage studied it in monetary terms and of profitability : it is especially a means of reduction of the labour costs and minimization of demand for qualified labour. Marx used these arguments to go beyond. On the basis of the idea of co-operation and collective worker, he showed that the division of the labour takes place in the production at the same time of use value and surplus-value, which implies to articulate the technical considerations with the social relations.
