AB  - This paper focuses on the legacy of Artistotle’s Poetics in early modern France, Spain and Italy. Poetics is first considered a timeless auctoritas and only in xviith the notion of legacy applies to the ancient treatise, and allowed poets either to accept the legacy of Aristotle or to refuse to acknowledge his authority, thus asserting the poetical autonomy of modern poetry.
