AB  - If a grammatical discourse is present in all the French language dictionaries published under the Ancien Régime, it is not uniform whatever the points of view chosen and its metalexicographic analysis depends on the contexts specific to each work and to each author or group of authors. The grammatical discourse of lexicographers, still dependent on Latin grammar, can hardly be a substitute for a grammar of the French language.
