AB  - The reading room in which consists the italian Renaissance studiolo is a staging of the humanistic soul, historically linked with the political dimension of the representation of the power. Based on the outstanding analysis of scholars such as Erwin Panofsky, Louis Marin and Daniel Arasse, this article intends to show that the advent of the studiolo, considered in the context of the palace housing it, crystallises a double architectural metaphor of soul and power.
