AB  - The article explores the character of Molière in Mikhaïl Bulgakov’s work through two plays. In The Cabal of Hypocrites, Molière’s tragic fate is at the centre of the conflict. In Half-Witted Jourdain, despite the absence of Molière on the stage, his presence is felt in two ways. On the one hand Molière is present as the author of the theatrical form of Bulgakov’s play. On the other, the play is a continuation of Bulgakov’s reflection on the destiny of the artist.
