AB  - This research is based on the analysis of newspaper articles from Le Monde and focuses on the circulation of quotations through time and memory while investigating how quotations link common knowledge and cultural history. Fragments of quotes identified in the press are usually linked to an historical event defined in space and time in the extralinguistic world. Hence a quote can be associated with a discursive event thanks to event names. This study also examines various types of modalisation affecting quotations.
